Michael B. Wisener, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on Nov. 1, 2022, at the age of 80. Mike was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on Aug. 12, 1942, to Jewell Dolphus (J.D.) and Nellie Ed Chamblee Wisener.

Mr. Wisener served his country honorably in the United States Airforce, and for thirty-five years Mike served as a Civil Engineer for the Alabama Department of Transportation. As a member of both the Holly Pond Historical Society and the Blountsville Historical Society, Mike’s knowledge of both towns and their history was unmatched. Mike had a passion for Holly Pond and its people. When he traveled, he was always happy to return home to his beloved Holly Pond. Mike served many years on the board of Holly Pond Cemetery, and he knew each family and their connections to the town. On several occasions he was able to share information with the families of their ancestors, stories long forgotten, helping to keep the history of Holly Pond and its people alive for future generations. Mr. Wisener loved to flyfish, and he spent any time he could enjoying the sport. He was also known by many as a “Santa Helper.” While Mike enjoyed getting to help Santa, the joy he brought to so many children will not be forgotten soon. Whether you knew Mike as a part of Holly Pond history, as a “Santa Helper,” or as a sweet friend, it is for certain that he will be greatly missed by many people.

Mr. Wisener is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Nellie Wisener.

Mike’s family was a cherished part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Wisener; daughter, Laura Hendrix (Chris); granddaughter, Abrey Crumbley (Clint); great-grandson, Benelli Crumbley; sister, Jane Black; nephew, Lee Black (Brooke); lifelong friends, Dan and Brenda Scott, Eugene and Nelda Simpson; and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services for Mr. Wisener are 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Earl Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Pond Cemetery with Clint Crumbley, Lee Black, Chris Hendrix, Blane Black, Cody Kelly, and Jason Scott serving as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from 11 a.m. until services begin.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, you donate to the Holly Pond Cemetery in Mike’s name as Mike worked/volunteered for the cemetery for almost twenty years. Donations can be mailed to: Holly Pond Cemetery, P.O. Box 335, Holly Pond, AL 35083.
