HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Fairview Aggies traveled north to Milton Frank Stadium for a matchup with Columbia Thursday night and they handled the Eagles 51-0 to get the season started 1-0.

The season got off to a great start when Fairview took the opening drive for a touchdown in five rushing plays. Elijah Frost scored on a four-yard run with 10:41 left in the first quarter. Kolt Redding’s PAT was good, and the Aggies took a quick 7-0 lead.

Columbia lost yardage on their possession and Fairview got the ball at Columbia’s 30-yard line. It only took one play for the Aggies to cash in on the great field position as Frost scored on a run. Missing the PAT made the score 13-0 with 8:39 left in the first quarter.

The Aggies defense continued their strong game and held the Eagles to negative yardage again and Fairview took over on the Columbia 41-yard line. After a 36-yard run by Barett York, Frost scored his third touchdown on a four-yard run making the score 20-0 with 5:16 left in the first quarter.

Continued strong Fairview defense quickly gave the ball back to the Aggies on Columbia’s 35-yard line. Three plays later, Frost scored his fourth touchdown of the first quarter and the score was 27-0 as the quarter came to an end.

Once again, the Fairview defense gave the ball back to the offense at the Columbia 20-yard line. Four plays later Jameson Goble scored on a one yard run with 10:57 left in the first half and the score was 34-0.

Columbia fumbled the ball, and the Aggies recovered the ball on their own 10-yard line. Fairview looked to continue the scoring streak. On the first play, the Eagles intercepted the pass and returned the ball 80 yards to the Fairview 10-yard line.

Facing fourth and goal from the 20-yard line, Fairview’s defense stiffened once again, and the Aggies took over deep in their own end of the field.

After a 23-yard pass from Gannon Black to Devyn Ellis aided by a 15-yard face mask penalty against the Eagles, Fairview’s drive stalled at Columbia’s five-yard line and Redding closed out the first half scoring with a 15-yard field goal making the score 37-0.

First half statistics had Fairview with 210 yards on 22 rushes. The Aggies added 26 yards on 2 for 4 passing for a total of 236 yards. The Fairview defense held the Eagles offense to overall negative yardage.

The second half went quickly highlighted by a three-yard scoring run from Carson Jones in the third quarter and one-yard touchdown run from Jake Harper to make the final score 51-0 to complete the shutout for the Aggies.

After the game, Aggies Head Coach George Redding noted that it was good to get into competition.

“We are excited to go out and compete. We have a lot of mistakes to work on. Anytime you are able to go out and represent your school is a good day.”

Fairview will host the Princeville Bulldogs next Friday at home.
