CULLMAN, Ala. – Touch a Truck is a free event hosted by Cullman Electric Cooperative where businesses, local first responders and other organizations bring their trucks and other special vehicles for an up-close and personal experience. The event will take place at the Cullman County Fairgrounds Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The family-friendly event offers children and adults a hands-on opportunity to explore a variety of trucks and meet the people who build, protect and serve our community. Guests are welcome to climb aboard the trucks and ask questions with the experts who use the vehicles every day.

Brian Lacy, communications manager at Cullman EC, stated, “The touch-a-truck concept has been popular for many years all over the country. Cullman EC decided to host one in 2019 and based on the response we got from participants and the community; we want to make it an annual event. We could not host it the past two years due to the pandemic, but we are excited to host it again this year and plan to keep having it in the future.”

This year vehicles including firetrucks, police cars, ambulances, bucket trucks, school buses, charter buses, farm tractors and heavy construction equipment will be on site. Fire, police and EMS vehicles from multiple agencies will be participating including, Cullman Police Department, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Cullman EMS, AirEvac (helicopter), Hanceville Fire Department and Trimble Volunteer Fire Department.

Wallace State Community College, R.E. Garrison Trucking, James R. Smith Trucking, Cullman Power Board, Earl’s Body Shop, Ready Mix USA, Tri-Green and Preferred Rentals will also be attending.

Lacy added, “Touch a Truck is an event for kids of all ages. It does not matter how old you are, there is something exciting when you sit down behind the wheel of a fire truck or climb into the cab of an 18-wheeler.”
