Veterans Day Celebration to take place at Veterans Park Saturday

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Elks Lodge is hosting the 2021 Veterans Day Celebration this Saturday, Nov. 6 at Cullman Veterans Park, located at the entrance of Sportsman Lake Park. 

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and admission is free. The event is funded by the donations from Cullman City and County governments, the Cullman County Community Development Commission and local businesses.   

The opening ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. The Junior ROTC will march in and present the colors. The Fairview High School Band will be on hand to play the National Anthem. Mayor Woody Jacobs and Cullman Commission Chairman Clemons will also be in attendance. 

 At 11:00 a.m., the award-winning vocal and dance duo, Gracie and Lacy, will perform. They have performed in New York City and on TV stations FOX, NBC and ABC.  

At 12:00 p.m., the Elks Lodge will provide a free lunch to all veterans and their spouses. Food vendors will also be available. The U.S. Army National Band from Huntsville will play during lunch. The event is prepared to serve up to 1000 veterans.  

The celebration will feature a car and truck show, an auto-related swap meet and exhibits from the Vietnam War era, featuring various military weapons and vehicles. There will be a “Huey” helicopter there for children to explore. The car show winners will be announced at 1:00 p.m. The day activities are scheduled to end around 3:00 p.m. Later in the evening, at 5:00 p.m. The Elks Lodge will hold a concert and dance by musical guest “Round 2.”   

The Elks Lodge conducts the celebration every year and invites as many veterans as are able to attend. Guides will be available to help visitors locate names on the Alabama Vietnam Veterans Wall.
