VINEMONT, Ala. – Beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the Cullman Regional Airport will conduct a full-scale exercise which is limited to a 4-hour training incident.

CRA general manager Ben Harrison stated on Wednesday, “Dispatch centers should be aware that any call/messaging regarding the exercise will begin ‘This is an exercise message’ and end the same way.”

He continued, “Dispatch centers may receive calls from concerned citizens reporting ‘something going on’ at the airport, we ask that you relay the information that this is a training session and not an emergency.  If you have any questions and/or concerns, please call Ben Harrison at 256-531-6666.”

Due to the limited time of the exercise, agencies will pre-position equipment in the area of the airport. Harrison stated that he does not want the public alarmed at the training exercise.

“The objective is to provide training for emergency responders with a goal of doing so in the safest manner possible,” he said. “Once the event is over, media will have a chance to observe and report back what all has taken place.”
