PREP TRACK & FIELD: Local standouts compete at Cullman Classic

CULLMAN, Ala. – 63 schools were in the field at this year’s 1A-7A Cullman Classic and there were plenty of local athletes that stood out among the pack. Cullman’s boys finished highest among local teams in fifth place with 57 points just behind Huntsville and Oak Mountain.

There were several noteworthy individual performances as well. Cullman’s Brodie Malcom earned gold in the triple jump with a mark of 45-01.00, edging out his teammate Nic Glass who finished second, and Vinemont’s Ethan Lemons placed first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:38.62. Holly Pond’s Camilla Chambers placed second overall in the 3200-meter run after posting an 11:59.36 and Cullman’s Nicholas Wood and Isaiah Jones each finished third in the 3200-meter run and long jump respectively.
