ARKADELPHIA, Ala. – A Bremen man has been charged with murder in the death of his wife. The charge stems from a shooting that occurred Wednesday night, Jan. 27, 2021 at a residence along the 3200 block of County Road 5 south of Arkadelphia.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick that night identified the deceased as Tammy McClellan, 50, of Bremen. The victim’s husband, Thomas Leon McClellan, 57, was arrested Saturday, Feb. 27.

Members of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Cullman EMS, the Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Department, Cold Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Regional Air-Medical Services all responded to the scene of the crime that night.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said the next day, “It has been determined that this was a domestic incident which led to an altercation. The altercation escalated and both individuals sustained gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, this resulted in the death of one of the individuals, while the other is being treated in an area hospital.”

Court records show Thomas McClellan’s bond was set at $150,000 cash.
