(Updated) 1 dead, 1 injured in shooting near Arkadelphia

Update 1-28-21 3:48 p.m.

ARKADELPHIA, Ala. – One person was killed and one injured in a shooting late Wednesday night in southern Cullman County. The incident happened at a residence along the 3200 block of County Road 5 south of Arkadelphia.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the deceased as Tammy McClellan, 50, of Bremen. The other person has not been officially identified.

Members of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Cullman EMS, the Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Department, Cold Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Regional Air-Medical Services all responded to the scene.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said late Wednesday night, “We had an active shooter incident in the Arkadelphia community that is currently under investigation. This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the citizens of this community. We will update everyone as new information becomes available.”

Thursday afternoon, Gentry said, “It has been determined that this was a domestic incident which led to an altercation. The altercation escalated and both individuals sustained gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, this resulted in the death of one of the individuals, while the other is being treated in an area hospital. It is still early in the investigation process. If there are any new discoveries, the information will be passed along at that time.”

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick has confirmed one person has died.

The Cullman County Coroner is now on the scene.

Cullman Sheriff Matt Gentry: “We have an active scene in the Arkadelphia community that is isolated and poses no threat to the community. Units are currently on scene. As soon as more information is available we will update.”

ARKADELPHIA, Ala. – Authorities are on the scene of a reported shooting along the 3200 block of County Road 5 south of Arkadelphia.

At least one person has been injured.

Members of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Cullman EMS, the Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Department and Cold Springs Volunteer Fire Department are responding.

Regional Air-Medical Services is also responding.
