GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The Good Hope City Council on Monday evening held a special-called meeting in which it went immediately into an executive session to discuss an as yet unnamed economic development project.

Mayor Jerry Bartlett revealed that the council is in negotiations for a potential retail development along County Road 222, just west of Interstate 65.

“The main thing is he (the developer) wants a letter from the City guaranteeing sewer (access),” Bartlett said.

After coming out of executive session, the council voted to provide the letter requested promising to provide sewer access to the future development. Council members said the city of Good Hope currently has sewer access on the east side of County Road 222 but not on the west side.

Bartlett said he will present the letter approved by the council Monday night to the developer Tuesday.

The Good Hope City Council will meet next on Monday, Dec 14 at Good Hope City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
