HOLLY POND, Ala. — The Holly Pond Broncos played host to the Slyvania Rams Friday night and it was the Rams that walked away with a 42-12 victory.

Holly Pond received the opening kickoff and started at its own 35-yard line. After getting a first down with a penalty, the Broncos were stopped on fourth and one, turning the ball over on downs at the Sylvania 46.

Sylvania drives the ball down to the Bronco six where Braiden Thomas takes it in for the first score of the night. The PAT is good Sylvania 7, Holly Pond 0.

On their second possession, the Bronco offense started on their own 35-yard line and were forced to punt the ball away on fourth down.

The Rams started on the own 20-yard line after the Bronco punt. The Rams’ quarterback found Sawyer Hughes open down the sideline for 80 yards and the Rams’ second touchdown. After the PAT, Sylvania moved ahead 14-0.

The Broncos get their offense going behind the strong running of Boatright and Andrew Bell and managed to get the ball down to the Rams’ 31. With first and 10, a Broncos fumble turned into a 69-yard Rams touchdown that made it a 21-0 game.

Holly Pond got on the board in the second quarter with a Bell 6-yard touchdown run that cut the deficit to 21-6.

The Broncos defense put up a fight, but it wasn’t enough, and the Rams put up a touchdown pass of 47 yards along with a 74-yard touchdown run to stretch their lead before halftime. The Broncos went into the locker room trailing 35-6.

The Rams started the third quarter with their final touchdown of the night to stretch the lead to 42-6.

Defensive highlights in the third quarter include an inception by Holly Pond’s Charlie Huddleston. The Broncos final score came on an Andrew Bell touchdown, but it was too little, too late and Holly Pond fell at home 42-12. The Broncos are scheduled to play Tarrant next week but COVID-19 quarantines have kept the Wildcats off the field all season so a new opponent could be an option for Holly Pond.
