WSCC’s Dr. Kathy Buckelew honored for Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty designation

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State Community College Department Chairperson, English and Humanities Dr. Kathy Buckelew last December was named Wallace State’s 2020 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty honoree. Thursday evening, Buckelew was recognized for that designation.

A statement on the American Association of Community College’s (AACC’s) website said, “AACC congratulates the recipients of the Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty designation. Named in honor of former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, this designation has been established to recognize individuals making a difference in the classroom.”

According to the AACC:

Recipients for the faculty distinction recognition:

  • Demonstrate passion for the students and the classroom.
  • Show willingness to support students, inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Be inclined to participate in college committees.
  • Go above and beyond what is required to ensure that students are successful in their academic endeavors.
