MONTGOMERY, Ala. –Ten Coaches’ Children Scholarship winners for the 2019-20 school year have been selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA), announced Director Jamie Lee Wednesday.

One of this year’s selections includes Meek High School’s Stuart Waldrep, son of Coach Dana Waldrep. Stuart played football, basketball and baseball for the Tigers.

The $1,000 need-based scholarships, presented for the 13th year by the AHSAA’s coaches’ organization, are being awarded to college-bound students whose parents are active members of the AHSADCA. Since 2008, the AHSADCA has awarded a total of $101,000 in scholarship funds to children of coaches or administrators in the AHSAA.

“We are pleased to provide this service once again from the AHSADCA to our member coaches and athletic directors,” Lee said. “We are very thankful for our coaches and administrators who sacrifice so much as teachers and coaches to work with our student-athletes. Their families also make much sacrifice. This is one way the AHSADCA can show its appreciation and help the children at the same time. We are also proud to note that this year’s awards puts the scholarship contributions over $100,000 overall since 2008. This is a welcome milestone for this organization to reach.”
