Back to back three-point baskets by Kaylee Stallings gave Holly Pond an early 6-2 lead but the Lady Lions answered with a three on the other end to cut the lead to one. Another Lindsay Lane bucket tied the game at eight late in the opening quarter and the Lady Broncos trailed 11-8 at the start of the second quarter.

The Lady Lions knocked down back to back threes early in the second quarter to take a 17-10 lead and the scoring run continued. Sarah Finley scored to cut the lead to 21-14 midway through the second and she later converted an and-one basket in the final seconds of the half to make it a 24-17 game at the break. A three-pointer from Tate Duke helped cut the lead to 26-22 early in the third but the Lindsay Lane responded with back to back threes on the other end to pull ahead and 32-24 midway through the quarter. By the start of the fourth, the Lady Lions led the way 38-26 but the final frame belonged to Holly Pond.

Missed free throws and turnovers plagued the Lady Broncos all night but in the latter half of the fourth quarter, the tide began to turn. Elizabeth Miller knocked down a pair of free throws to trim the lead to 40-36 and a Stallings layup made it a 2-point game with under three minutes to play. Offensive rebounds extended possessions for Holly Pond and Miller added another pair of free throws to tie things up at 40 with 1:40 to play. Both teams were scoreless for over a minute of game time before Stallings drilled another three-pointer to put the Lady Broncos up 43-40 with 21 seconds on the clock. Holly Pond was able to get a defensive stop and Duke knocked down two free throws with five seconds to play to ice the game.

Finley led the Lady Broncos with 17 points in the win, followed by Stallings with 11, Miller with eight and Duke with five. Holly Pond will get some time off over the Thanksgiving weekend before traveling to Oneonta Tuesday.

Lincoln County 67 – Holly Pond 40 (varsity boys)

Turnovers led to an early 7-0 lead for Lincoln County but six straight points from Kyler Chaney cut the lead to one. Offensive rebounds and a three-pointer by the Falcons helped them build a 22-8 advantage going into the second quarter.

Lincoln County got the quarter started with a 7-0 scoring to go ahead 29-8 early in the second. Levi Boatright knocked down a triple to make it a 34-11 game midway through the second, but it was the only points the Broncos could score in the quarter and they trailed the Falcons 38-11 at the halftime break.

Holly Pond surpassed their first half scoring total in the third quarter alone by putting up 16 and cutting the lead to 52-27 going into the final frame. Despite another solid scoring effort in the fourth quarter, the Broncos couldn’t overcome the early lead and fell to Lincoln County 67-40.
