CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – One person is dead and one in custody following what Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry described as an “altercation” in east Cullman County Thursday.

Said Gentry, “We can confirm that a person is deceased.”

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the victim as Christopher Wayne Olinger, 45, of Arab. He said the victim was stabbed.

There was heavy law enforcement presence along the 3000-3100 block of Alabama Highway 69 N near Cornerstone Revival Center midday Thursday.

“We received a call of an injured person that was found in the 3000 block of Highway 69 North,” Gentry said. “We are early in the investigation and details will be released at a later time.”

The suspect is in custody; however, it is unclear what charges, if any, will be filed.

“The other party involved in the altercation is detained at this time,” said Gentry.

Details of the altercation, including where the incident occurred, have not been released. The victim was in a vehicle along the side of Highway 69.

This is a developing story.
