BAILEYTON, Ala.- Baileyton’s new town hall is nearing completion, with cabinets, trim and flooring going in soon. The town council Monday night discussed the progress and said it hopes to add a council podium in the new building. No official completion date was given, but Mayor Johnny Dyar said the goal is for the building to be ready for occupancy by early 2020.

The council also discussed the bleachers at the town’s park. The wooden boards have been removed and will be replaced with new boards soon. Dyar said the Town’s insurance company made the request, as the old boards were rotting and posed a risk. Until the bleachers are repaired, they will be moved to keep anyone from playing on or around them. The council approved the purchase of the new boards and hardware for the project for $1,000.

The date has been set for this year’s Christmas celebration at the Baileyton Senior Center. The community Christmas party will be Saturday, Dec. 4 from 5-7 p.m. Santa Claus will be there for free pictures with the kids, and the Town will provide a free meal. Hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and candy will be served. Gifts and fruit bags will also be given to children.

The next Baileyton Town Council meeting will be Dec.2, 2019 at 7 p.m.
