Obituary: Bob J. Bliss

Bob J. Bliss, 84, of Hanceville, passed away Oct. 20, 2019 at Hanceville Nursing Home and Rehab Center.

Bob was born in Payson, UT, to Clint and Ruth Peterson March 28, 1935. At the age of 2 years old, Bob was adopted by Stanley Bliss.

He graduated from Payson High School, after which he served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1959 he followed a calling from the Church of Latter-Day Saints on a mission trip to Superior, Wisconsin. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marcia Hagan. On Nov. 17, 1961, they were married in the Manti Temple. He worked for 27 years for the United States Air Force in the F16 Fighter Jet Program at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Bliss; mother, Ruth Bliss; brothers, Robert and Reid Bliss; and his wife of 57 years, Marcia Bliss.

He is survived by his son, Chris (Misty) Bliss; son, Todd (Diane) Bliss; daughter, Tammy (Patrick) Cupp; son, Darrin Bliss; brother, Blaine (Pat) Bliss; sister, Diane (Dale) Jolley; grandson, Shawn (Leah) Cupp; granddaughter, Kylee Bliss; grandson, Mitchell (Lesli) Cupp; granddaughter, Chelsea Cupp; granddaughter, Taylor (Parker) Allen; grandson, Parker (Katie) Veatch; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Cupp, Elias Cupp, Haylee Cupp, Owen Cupp, and Colton Cupp.

Visitation will be at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Friday, Oct. 25 from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. following visitation at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Parker Allen officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are Chris Bliss, Todd Bliss, Darrin Bliss, Patrick Cupp, Shawn Cupp, and Mitchell Cupp.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Southern Care New Beacon Hospice with special thanks to Lashelle, Jared, and all the nurses that cared for him throughout his illness.
