DANVILLE, Ala. –  The Holly Pond Broncos traveled to Danville to face the Hawks Friday night and the game started with the Broncos taking the open kick off up to midfield. The Broncos gained one first down before Levi Boatright ran it 34 yards for the for the first score of the night to give Holly Pond an early 6-0 lead.

Danville responded with a touchdown of its own with less than a minute off the clock. Following the first of three Holly Pond punts in the first half, Danville took the lead with a 16-yard pass touchdown. The first quarter ended with Danville leading 13-6.

The second quarter opened with the Broncos knocking on the door at the Danville 2-yard line. Boatright scored his second touchdown of the game and the ensuing 2-point conversion made it 14-13 Holly Pond.

Danville, behind a strong running game, had drives of 62 yards and 45 yards before halftime, missing one extra point and giving the Hawks a 26-14 halftime lead.

Danville received the ball at the start of the third quarter, starting at its own 45. The Hawks crossed midfield to the Holly Pond 47-yard line, and the Danville running game took over. The Hawks found the end zone once again on the ground and the following extra point made it 33-14 Danville.

The following kickoff saw the ball bounce off a Holly Pond player and the Hawks fell on the ball at midfield. Two plays later, Danville scored again, and the missed extra point made it a 39-14 game.

Holly Pond got the ball back and drove down to the Danville 17-yard line where a pass from Kyler Chaney to Landon Perkins resulted in a touchdown that cut the lead to 39-22 midway through the third quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Broncos getting their ground game going after the Hawks turned the ball over on downs. Starting at its own 26-yard line, Holly Pond drove down to the Danville 10 where Boatright scored his third touchdown of the night to make it a 39-30 game.

Unfortunately for Broncos fans, the Danville offense was just too much for the Holly Pond defense and the Hawks scored again with 4:29 left in the fourth to go up 45-30. The Broncos managed to find the end zone one more time with 1:49 remaining but it was too little too late, and Danville held on to win it 45-36.

Holly Pond is now 1-5 on the season and will travel to face the Locust Fork Hornets next Friday night.
