HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Wallace State’s women’s golf team cruised to its third straight WSCC Fall Invitational championship this week.
Sophomore Claire Newby was the individual low medalist, carding a 73-79-152, in the Lady Lions’ fall season opener at Cross Creek Golf Course.
Lauren Cole, Maddie Nelson, Savannah Hughes and Danielle Buompastore each made the All-Tournament team for Wallace State, which is coached by J.J. Adams.
Paige Lemm, Abby Grimes and Carly Havens rounded out the field for the Lady Lions – the three-time defending Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) champions.
Snead State, Calhoun and Jeff State competed as teams in WSCC Fall Invitational, while other colleges featured individual participants.
Wallace State’s next fall tournament begins on Sept. 29 at the Snead State Invitational.
No. 16 Wallace State volleyball remains undefeated
Four Wallace State players finished with at least seven kills as the 16th-ranked volleyball team swept Gadsden State on Wednesday night, winning 25-8, 25-20, 25-10, at Tom Drake Coliseum.
Harlee Kate Reid finished the match with nine kills and 12 digs for the Lions, who moved to 17-0 this season and 6-0 in ACCC play.
Diamond Jones had eight kills and three digs for Wallace State and Amryi-Grace Paris and Karlee Hale added seven kills apiece.
Lauren Seibert racked up a team-high 15 digs. Tori Walker contributed seven.
KaLea Davis finished with 15 assists and Anna Renshaw added 13.
Wallace State travels to LaGrange College on Friday for a weekend tournament. The Lions next conference match is at home Sunday at 1 p.m. vs. Coastal Alabama-East.
