SUMITON, Ala. – After edging Southeastern 34-33 a week ago to collect a big region win, the Cold Springs Eagles hit the road Friday night to face another region foe. This week, it was the Eagles of Sumiton Christian and Cold Springs had no trouble showing who the stronger Eagles team was as they cruised to a 50-12 road win.

Cold Springs jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the opening quarter, but Sumiton Christian managed to keep it an eight-point game by the start of the second. Cold Springs began to create some separation in the second quarter despite Sumiton Christian finding the end zone. It was 16-6 Cold Springs midway through the period before the Eagles exploded going into the half. Cold Springs tacked on two more scores to take a commanding 29-6 lead into the halftime break.

Fans were treated to more of the same in the second half. Cold Springs stretched its lead to 36-6 early in the second half and built a daunting, 43-6 lead by the start of the fourth quarter. Each team found the end zone one more time in the game and Cold Springs pulled away to win it 50-12 and pick up another region win.

The Eagles are now 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in the region with another critical showdown against Aliceville coming up at home next week.
