HANCEVILLE – The West Point Lady Warriors hit the floor at Wallace State Monday to participate in the 2019 MLK Classic and came away with a 73-66 win over the Lady Tigers of Deshler.

The Lady Warriors got off to a hot start in the first quarter, knocking down three straight shots from behind the arc. Deshler cut the lead to 13-7 midway through the first quarter, but West Point maintained a 22-16 advantage at the end of the opening period.

Molly Pendley hit back to back threes midway through the second quarter to put the Lady Warriors ahead 32-22 and added another three just before the half to make it 39-27 going into the break. Pendley was five of five from three-point range in the first half and led West Point with 15 points.

Miriam Oldacre threw in another three-pointer midway through the third to stretch the lead to 52-36 and Mackenzie Carter added a free throw in the final seconds of the quarter to make it 55-41 West Point going into the fourth.

Three-point shooting for the Lady Tigers kept the Lady Warriors from pulling away and Deshler even cut the lead to seven with just over a minute to play. Both Miriam Oldacre and Carter knocked down a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to secure the victory for the Lady Warriors.

Several players finished in double figures for West Point, led by Oldacre with 27. Carter and Pendley finished behind her with 15 points each.
