West Point man killed in early morning wreck on Hwy. 157

WEST POINT –  A West Point man was killed Saturday morning in a two-car wreck in the 10,000 block of Alabama Highway 157. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick said that Jerry Wayne Brown, 70, of West Point was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pick-up truck and was struck from behind by a 2007 Nissan Maxima driven by Adam McMurphy, 25, of Cullman near Haney Equipment Company.

West Point Fire & Rescue and Cullman EMS were on the scene, along with troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The wreck happened at approximately 6:25 a.m. According to troopers, Brown  was not wearing a seatbelt. McMurphy was injured and transported to Cullman Regional.

Troopers continue to investigate.
