Hornets sting Eagles; Locust Fork drops Vinemont 44-6

LOCUST FORK – It was a career day for Andrew Rogers of Locust Fork who rushed for four touchdowns in their 44-6 win over Vinemont.

Rogers got the first of his four TDs on a 5-yard carry with 4:00 left to go in the first. Just 54 seconds later he found himself in the end zone again, this time from 3 yards out. With the extra point, the score stood 14-0 Locust Fork.

The Hornets increased their lead to 17-0 on a Jose Hernandez Duarte 30-yard field goal.

Vinemont answered with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jack Hill to Dustin Moore, but Locust Fork answered right back with a 1-yard touchdown run from Rogers.

Rogers got his fourth and final touchdown, a 3-yard carry, late in the first half to make the score 30-6 Locust Fork at halftime.

Locust Fork scored twice more in the second, half both by Benjamin Oden. The first was an interception that he took to the house to make the score 37-6. The final score came with 9:18 left to go in the game when Oden carried the ball across the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown plunge to make the score 44-6.

Vinemont will look to get back on track next week when they welcome Hanceville to Mark Smothers field on the campus of Vinemont High School.
