BERLIN – A man authorities refer to as a known drug dealer is behind bars, charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

Agents with the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), on Monday arrested Jeffrey Lee Cunningham, 47, of Berlin following a search of the suspect’s residence on County Road 759.

According to a news release from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, authorities recovered 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine from a toilet in the home before the drugs could be destroyed.

“This suspect is a known drug dealer and I am glad we were able to work with (the) DEA to get him off the streets and in jail,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.  “I would also like to commend CNET and the DEA on the work they did in this case.”

Cunningham is being held in the Cullman County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
