HANCEVILLE – A Hanceville man was killed in the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 12 when the motorcycle he was driving left the roadway, according to Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick.

Micheal Joseph Yeager, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, which was reported as 34440 Highway 91, about four miles north of Holly Pond.

"Yeager was killed when the 2006 Honda motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and overturned," read a statement from Alabama State Trooper Curtis Summerville.

The cause of the crash, which occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m., is still under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Summerville says that the preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

Kilpatrick says that Yeager was wearing a helmet.

This is the second traffic fatality this year in Cullman County. The first was on Jan. 2 in the community of Johnson's Crossing.
