CULLMAN, Ala. – With school out for Columbus Day and blue skies overhead, families from across the area spent Monday, Oct. 12, at 4D Farm’s Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch.
The farm, at 7066 County Road 703 in Cullman, opened from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. for the holiday, inviting guests to “come make some fall memories” with a day of farm fun and seasonal treats.
By lunchtime, a line stretched past the bright red welcome barn, and families filled the picnic tables near the food stands. Hudd Music played on the covered porch from 1 to 4 p.m. while kids raced from one attraction to the next.
Something new this season
The biggest new draw this year is the Happy Highland coaster. Riders in a train of bright orange cars climbed and dipped along the track throughout the day.
Other rides include the Farm Swings, Pony Carts for younger kids and the Cornado. Across the farm, children tumbled through the corn pit, burying their legs in kernels and making “corn angels” alongside their parents, and took turns on the giant slide and the rainbow jumping pillow.
Pumpkins, pigs and more
Visitors can wander the pumpkin patch to find the perfect pumpkin while enjoying the story of Spookly the square pumpkin, take a hayride through the countryside, find their way through the corn maze and feed the farm animals, including Dolly the Highland cow.
At 2 p.m., crowds gathered for the farm’s pig races, and the day began and wrapped up with the candy cannon, showering eager kids with treats.
Food options include freshly made apple cider doughnuts, apple cider slushes, funnel cakes, milkshakes and fresh-dipped corn dogs, along with other festival favorites.
