CULLMAN –  A Cullman man is behind bars after being arrested Tuesday on charges of displaying obscene material to a minor, according to a report from the Cullman County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).

Ray Charles Schultz, 26, was arrested by CCSO investigators after a two month-long investigation. Schultz allegedly sent obscene material to a person he believed to be a minor via multiple social media sites.

Yesterday, CCSO investigators and deputies executed a search warrant at Schultz's residence, where several electronic devices were seized.

“I have said many times that our children are our most precious gift from God and we as parents and law enforcement must do everything we can to protect them from the evil that is in this world.  I have no sympathy for someone who tries to take advantage of a child,” said Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would also like to think our investigators and patrol deputies for doing a great job on this case.”

Schultz is  being held in the Cullman County Detention Center without bond.

Other charges may be pending.
