BATTLEGROUND – On Sept. 24 the gates of Camp Liberty will open at 10 a.m. for an all-day event called Rockin’ America’s Heroes, a launch party for The Valkyrie Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the successful facilitation of the after-down range transition of veterans, first responders and their families.

“Rockin' America's Heroes is the first public event to be hosted at Camp Liberty,” said Joseph Land, president of Liberty Communications and owner of Camp Liberty. “We are pleased to support the nonprofit organization, The Valkyrie Initiative, as they support America's warfighters and first responders.”

Land hopes to see the event becoming a yearly occurrence. “We hope to see this become an annual gathering here in Cullman County,” he said.

“The gates will open at 10 a.m., with music and activities throughout the day” Land said. “Our various veteran- and patriot-based musicians will perform throughout the day.”

The event will feature speakers John Rea, Seal Team Six “forefather,” and anti-terrorism expert John Rea, and LD “Stoney” Stone, author and martial arts grand master. Entertainment will include veteran performers Dave Bray, Ryan Weaver and Dee Rock.

There will also be vendor booths, displays, food, a zip line and obstacle course and more.

Land and Camp Liberty are still in the process of integrating into the Cullman community, since moving into the new location in Battleground from Marion, Alabama.

“Our youth mission is our primary focus two months of the year, during the summer. The remaining 10 months are dedicated to the men and women who wear a uniform, including military, law enforcement, fire fighters and emergency medical professionals,” Land said. “This is right in step with our partners at The Valkyrie Initiative. They provide support of our country's heroes through a variety of programs and services, many of which will be offered here at Camp Liberty in the future.”

General admission to the event is $20 online, or $25 at the gate. Military members, veterans and first responders are $5. Children 12 and younger are free.
