HANCEVILLE – The 57-member Hanceville High School marching band will be traveling throughout the northern part of the state during the 2016-2017 school year. Highlighting its Motown Magic theme, the band will be entering and hosting marching competitions, testing their skillfulness and fluidity.

Travel and entry fees in competitions can be expensive and the costs add up quickly. With the band scheduled to compete in the Kudzu Klassic in Russellville, Southern Hospitality in Hartselle and Pride of Athens Marching Invitational and hosting its annual Mud Creek competition, any financial backing is always appreciated.

Recently, Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview was able to secure state funding for several area high school bands, including Hanceville. Shedd presented the band with a check for $2,000.

Drum Major Briana Loomis and the rest of the Bulldog band send their gratitude and sincere appreciation to Shedd.
