Funeral services for Betty Veigl Schafer, age 85 of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Duke officiating. Interment will be in East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schafer passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Woodland Village Healthcare and Rehab. She was born January 20, 1931 in Cullman to the late Emil and Gertrude Huck Veigl. She was a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walt Schafer, Sr.; a daughter, Betty Jo Kendrick; and two brothers, Emil Veigl, Jr. and Carl Veigl.

Survivors include her three daughters, Alice (Buell) Reid; Linda (Bobby) Stevens and Donna (Daniel) Friedrich; a son, Walt (DeAnn) Schafer, Jr.; four grandchildren, Jeremy Friedrich, Chad Stevens, Bryan Schafer and Jody Schafer; five great-grandchildren, Ava Grace Schafer, Addison Schafer, Callan Schafer, Liam Stevens and Anna-Claire Stevens; a brother, Robert Veigl; a sister, Joanna Jetton; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
