James Buddy Rooks, 72, of Houston passed away on March 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 13, 1943 in Moulton. Buddy graduated from Addison High School in 1960. He retired from his Welding Supply business after 35 years. Buddy was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church in Moreland Community, where services will be held at 5 p.m. Brother Rick Moody and Brother Ace Beam will officiate. Burial will be in Moreland Community Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Rooks; daughter, Sheryl Clark; sisters, Dean (Bert) Hamrick and Helen Goddard; he was Paw Paw Buddy to 2 grandchildren, Abe (Jennifer) Rooks and Shena Ward; and 4 great grandchildren, Sawyer Clark, Caden Wolfe, Bentley Rooks and Charlie Grace Clark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elmer Rooks; brother, Ellis Rooks; sister, Hazel Harris; son, Mike Rooks; and son in law, Ray Clark.
