Mayor Proclaims “Strides Walk for Diabetes Awareness Day”

CULLMAN – On Monday, November 10, 2014, Mayor Townson signed a proclamation declaring November 15, 2014, “Strides Walk for Diabetes Awareness Day” in the City of Cullman.

The 3rd annual “Strides” event, sponsored by the Cullman Community Lions Club, will begin at 10 a.m. on November 15, 2014, at Heritage Park. Members of the Cullman Community Lions Club, along with their friends and families, will walk to raise awareness of the health complications of diabetes.

The Cullman Community Lions Club is a co-ed Lions Club whose primary focus is Diabetes Awareness. Their mission is to conduct and support local and large scale efforts leading to the control and treatment of diabetes and its complications through education, prevention, and research.

“This is a great cause and I encourage everyone to take part in this event,” said Mayor Townson. “Thanks to the Cullman Community Lions Club for sponsoring this event that is both fun and educational.”

Present from the Cullman Community Lions Club to accept the proclamation were Laurita Hogeland (Strides Walk Chairperson), Catherine Haggard, Ron Seybold, Karen Seybold, and Cindy Harbison.
