CULLMAN, Ala. – Organizers of the fourth annual “Love, Amy” Project at Grace Episcopal Church on Friday presented a check for $2,100 to be used to provide food for a village in Honduras.

The Love, Amy Project was born out of love for the late Amy Freeman Williams, who grew up in Grace Church and was the daughter of Patti and the late Dr. Phil Freeman.

“She had two children and was a nurse practitioner in Nashville. Because of her untimely death three years ago, members of Grace Church decided to always keep her memory alive,” said project chair Mona Hopper. “Amy had a contagious, ‘Julia Roberts’ smile that changed the world. Since she had traveled to Honduras, we know she would be honored to have this project created to celebrate her life by her hometown parish that loved her dearly.”

Normally, the project team packs shoeboxes to distribute to families in Honduras; however, because of COVID-19, this year monetary donations were collected.

Hopper said Larry “Bucket” Guthrie, who has gone on numerous mission trips to Honduras,  will be sending $200 per month to be used for food to the village where Amy and her parents have done medical mission work.
