ARAB, Ala. – Arab City Park was alive with activity all day Saturday for the city’s inaugural SugarFest.

The Sugar Rush 5K kicked off the day, followed by the Sweet Rides Car Show and the Miss SugarFest Pageant.

Pageant winners included: Tiny Miss Sugar Baby Kimora Hyde, Toddler Miss Sugar Cube Alaina Pierce, Mini Miss Sugar Plum Olivia Land, Little Miss Sugar Fairy Bella Grace Sloan, Petite Miss Sugar Belle Karington Harper and Pre-Teen Miss SugarFest McKayla Burks.

For the rest of the day, families enjoyed what SugarFest had to offer, including cookie decorating, a kids’ area with rides and a petting zoo, the Arts and Crafts Marketplace and plenty of food. The festival finished with a bang, literally, with the Fireworks Spectacular.

The event’s Facebook page received an influx of positive reviews following the day’s festivities.

One read, “Such a well-organized event! Great crowd, great vendors and the shade in the vendor area was wonderful. Loved the turnout, can’t wait for next year!”

City of Arab Economic Development Director Melissa Cook told The Tribune, “We plan to make it an annual event.”
