Vila Tyree celebrated her 92nd birthday on June 4, 2017. She has lived most of her life in the Helicon community. Vila was a stay-at-home mother for several years, during which time she worked on the chicken farm. She was a beloved lunchroom lady at Meek for five years, then she worked at Nicholson Files for five years. Vila taught Sunday School classes for all ages for more than 50 years at Liberty Baptist Missionary Church. She was married for 41 years to Dolphus Tyree. They had four children: Sandra and the late J.W Hicks, Steve and Glenda Tyree, the late Ricky Tyree( Linda) and Jayne and Michael Waldrep. She has 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild with another on the way. Vila loved to sew for her family and community. She also enjoyed spending time working in her flower bed and garden, and was very generous with her produce. A host of her family and friends would like to wish her a Happy Birthday!
