HACKLEBURG, Ala. – Hackleburg scored 31 points after Meek put its first eight points on the board, and defeated the Tigers 37-16 in Friday night’s Class 1A, Region 8 matchup.
Meek entered halftime with an 8-6 lead, but Hackleburg took control during the third quarter. The Panthers scored on two touchdown passes and converted a two-point run after each score to carry a 22-8 lead into the final period.
Hackleburg stretched its advantage in the fourth when a rushing touchdown and extra point made it 29-8. The Panthers later returned an interception for a touchdown and completed a two-point pass to build a 37-8 lead.
The Tigers answered on the ground in the closing minutes. Meek scored on a rushing touchdown with about three minutes remaining, then added a two-point run for the final points of the night.
