CULLMAN, Ala. – September is Library Card Sign-up Month for the Cullman County Public Library System. The CCPLS encourages residents to celebrate the month by signing up for a library card and discovering the benefits of supporting local libraries.
“For the month of September, new Cullman library card holders will receive a special sticker featuring the library or Friends of the Library logo!” the CCPLS wrote. This is while supplies last.
Though there are perks that come with a library card that go beyond stickers and checking out a book. Library cards open the door for free programs and homework help, streaming media and job resources.
“The library offers something to everyone – no matter your age, background or goals.” The CCPLS noted.
Libraries are free, valuable resources, helping communities connect, find inspiration and learn.
Having a library card helps showcase the community’s need for funding and resources. The CCPLS can track cardholder activity and provide data to prove local impact. This can help the CCPLS better advocate for grants, larger budgets and additional funding, benefiting the community through upgrades and service expansion.
Cullman County Public Library cards grant holders access to all five libraries in Cullman County: Shirley Burden Public Library (Hanceville), Guy Hunt Library (Holly Pond), Garden City Public Library, Tom Bevill Library (Colony) and the Cullman County Public Library (downtown Cullman). This also includes their digital catalogs.
By making small changes such as going to the library for a book rather than ordering online or buying from a corporation, readers are supporting local needs.
