
CULLMAN, Ala. – During its regular meeting on June 16, the Cullman City Board of Education recognized Cullman High School student Isaac Heinze for earning a perfect ACT score.
It also approved a $500,000 transfer from the Turf Replacement Fund to the City of Cullman to help fund the Tennis Court Rehabilitation and Addition Project on Stadium Drive.
In a statement, the Board shared, “In the June meeting of the Cullman City Board of Education, the Board approved a recommendation from Superintendent (Kyle) Kallhoff to reallocate $500,000 to support the City of Cullman in its Tennis Court renovation and addition project.
“This investment represents a continuous strategic partnership between Cullman City Schools and the City of Cullman that will enhance athletic and recreational opportunities for our students and the broader community. The proposed project will improve existing tennis facilities, expand court capacity and provide a modern venue capable of supporting school athletics, physical education activities, community programming and regional events.
“The reallocation of these funds reflects the district’s commitment to maximizing the impact of taxpayer resources through collaborative projects that benefit both students and citizens. By partnering with the City of Cullman on this initiative, the school system can help ensure access to high-quality tennis facilities while supporting long-term community development goals.”
Also approved were several personnel, financial and operational matters. Aldridge, Borden & Company, P.C. presented the district’s fiscal year 2025 audit. The board also approved the April 2026 financial report, salary schedules and extracurricular supplement schedules for the 2026-27 school year.
In addition, the board approved several service contracts for the upcoming school year, covering behavioral analysis, physical and occupational therapy, vision services, auditory-verbal therapy and mental health services.
It also approved agreements with WellStone Inc. and Brooks’ Place to provide mental health support for Cullman City Schools and Turning Point. For the 2026-27 school year, the board awarded Bid No. 26-04 for behavioral consultant services to Milestones Behavior Group and Howard’s Autism Learning Center LLC, and Bid No. 26-05 for physical and occupational therapy consultant services to Encore Rehabilitation Inc.
The board also approved a $75,374 contract with Vanguard Cleaning Systems for janitorial services at West Elementary School.
As part of the consent agenda, the board approved a photography contract with Timepiece Treasures Photography for Cullman High School for the 2026-27 school year. The board also approved the district’s bus driver and transportation plan and gave permission for Cullman High School senior football players to go on a rafting trip on Tennessee’s Ocoee River in July.
The board declared several items as surplus, including a MacBook Pro from the Technology Department, furniture and old textbooks from Cullman Middle School and equipment from East Elementary School such as a 3D printer, a printer, a document camera and microscopes.
Personnel actions for the 2026-27 school year included resignations, transfers, new hires, stipends, supplements, contracts and service agreements.
The next regular Cullman City Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 21, at 8:30 a.m.
