Cullman Christian names Matt Heaton head cross-country, track and field coach

CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Christian School has named Matt Heaton its new head cross-country and track and field coach.

Heaton brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to the program, according to the school. His background includes coaching at the middle school, junior varsity and varsity levels in cross-country, track and field, basketball and baseball.

Heaton has previously coached at Holly Pond High School, Good Hope High School, Harmony School and West Point High School.

Cullman Christian stated Heaton has built a reputation for developing successful teams and athletes throughout his coaching career. His programs have earned multiple county championships at the junior varsity and varsity levels, and he has coached numerous All-State athletes and individual state champions.

Among his accomplishments is coaching the 2014 Good Hope High School Wheelchair Track and Field Team to a state championship. Cullman Christian stated the achievement reflects Heaton’s commitment to helping each athlete reach his or her full potential.

The school said Heaton views athletics as an opportunity to teach discipline, perseverance, leadership, teamwork and character. He is expected to focus on building a positive environment where student-athletes are challenged to compete at a high level while also growing as individuals and leaders.

Heaton joins Cullman Christian with plans to continue developing the school’s cross-country and track and field programs.

Cullman Christian said Heaton is excited to join the school community and looks forward to building a program that honors Christ, pursues excellence and makes a lasting impact on student-athletes.
