CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Caring for Kids will host a free event – Kickin’ it for the Kids – this Saturday, May 9, from 1-6 p.m. at the Cullman County Fairgrounds.
Cullman Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Case Manager Alyson Miley said the event will be a meaningful fundraiser for the organization.
“I have had a vision in my heart to host an event like this since graciously being given this position,” Miley said. “This is the first year for this event, and it is our sincere hope that it becomes a meaningful and successful tradition as a special day of fun that families will look forward to each year.”
Miley said the primary goal is to provide families with a fun, engaging day while increasing awareness of the valuable resources available within the community.
“Cullman is fortunate to be home to many compassionate nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving others, and this event aims to help connect those organizations with individuals and families who may benefit from their support,” Miley said.
The event is free, with exception of raffles and food trucks. There will be live music, inflatables, food available for purchase, games and more. All proceeds will go to Cullman Caring for Kids.
“My inspiration for this event began during a season of personal growth as a single mother,” Miley said. “While working in the restaurant industry provided for my family, I felt called to pursue something more impactful. I give God the glory for leading me to Cullman Caring for Kids. What began as an interview for a volunteer position with Candace Lingo and CASA quickly grew into meaningful conversations, which turned into ideas, and ultimately into action.
“I now pray those actions become lasting blessings for our community. I am deeply passionate about the importance of supporting one another and coming together as a community. It truly takes a village, and I believe that through education, outreach and access to resources, families in Cullman can not only succeed, but truly thrive.”
