
CULLMAN, Ala. – Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students from Cullman County Schools gathered at the Cullman Area Technology Academy (CATA) on Tuesday, March 24, to compete in the FCCLA Alabama Creed Challenge STAR Event.
The Alabama Creed Challenge is an individual event designed to recognize members for their ability to recite and interpret the FCCLA Creed within the context of their personal philosophy. This competition provides students with the opportunity to build confidence in public speaking while deepening their understanding of the values and mission of FCCLA.
In Level 3 competition (11th and 12th grades), Aiden Freeman of Cold Springs High School earned first place. Reece Guthrie of West Point High School placed second and Katie Holmes of Vinemont High School placed third.
In Level 2 competition (ninth and 10th grades), Hennriette Campbell of Cold Springs High School earned first place, while Amanda Wilson of Hanceville High School placed second.
The event was judged by Tammy Whittle, a former Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, and Ann Culpepper.
FCCLA advisors from across the county were present to support their students, including Stephanie Blair (Cold Springs High School), Amie Veal (Cullman Area Career Center), Amanda Williams (Good Hope High School), Amy Chambers (Hanceville High School), Amelia Burke (Holly Pond High School), Whitney Young (West Point High School) and Madison Sapp (Vinemont High School).
