Funeral services for Mr. Gary Leon Warden, 78, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m., Friday, February 27th, 2026, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Pastor Matt Smith and Johnny Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.
Mr. Warden passed away February 21st, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Gary was a 1965 graduate of the original Butler High School in Huntsville. Gary retired after 23 years as a telecommunications engineer in Atlanta with the state of Georgia. He resided in Smyrna, GA for 30 years, with his wife Diane, where they raised their two children. He was an avid fisherman and never passed up a chance to catch, as he would say, “anything that will bite the hook.” A devout Christian, Gary was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Cullman. He enjoyed watching college football and was always torn when Alabama and Georgia played one another. Gary’s greatest love was for his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Warden was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Leon and Kate Warden. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane Reid Warden; his children, daughter, Nan Green (Shannon) and son, John Daniel Warden; and three grandchildren, Ella Kate Green, Andrew Green, and Kyler Warden; a sister, Gail Parker of Huntsville, AL; brother-in-law, Bob Reid (Janet) of Pensacola, FL and two nephews, Bob Reid (Michele) of Seattle, Washington and David Reid of Washington D.C.
Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
