Dorothy Elizabeth Drummond, age 101, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away peacefully on Thursday December 11, 2025, at the Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Ardmore, TN. She was born April 25, 1924, to Wyatt Jackson and Effie Allred Jackson at Walter, Alabama in Cullman County. She was a 1942 graduate of Hanceville High School and a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service at Hanceville. She enjoyed working at the Post Office and was given the nickname Ms. Smiley because she always smiled when she waited on customers. After retirement she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a proud member of Ardmore First Baptist Church and Hanceville First Baptist Church for most of her 101 years.
Mrs. Drummond was predeceased by her parents, her husband Lonnie who she was married to for 52 wonderful years, her brothers, Harold Jackson and wife Marguerite, Woody Jackson and wife Jane, her sisters, Ruth Ashwander and husband Marvin, Mary Bland and husband Julian, nephew, Lewis Ashwander, Maurice Drummond and infant niece Nancy Jane Ashwander.
Survivors include her son, Phillip Drummond of Ardmore, Alabama, nephews, Jimmy Jackson (Ann), Edward Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Dr. George Jackson (Cary), Mark Bland (Myra), James Drummond, nieces, Sylvia Gilmore, Margaret Rose Neely (Mike), Cindy Morton (Dr. Steve Morton), Shirley Via, Janet Jean (Royce), Marcia Tillman (Kevin), great nephews and great nieces, cousins and many friends.
A visitation was held at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home for Mrs. Drummond, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with a memorial service that followed at 11 a.m. with Brother Alan Hughes, Rick Shannon and Marco Shaw officiating. Burial was at Shelton Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Cullman County with a service at 2:30 p.m. officiated by Kelvin Harbison, Brother Alan Hughes and Brother Rick Shannon.
