VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 6, approving several resolutions and addressing updates related to operations and infrastructure.
During the meeting, council members approved Resolution No. 2026-01-01, establishing new operating hours for Vinemont Town Hall. The updated schedule sets office hours for Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., and Fridays from 7 a.m.-noon.
Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser presented the FY 2025 Town of South Vinemont Rebuild Alabama Annual Report, highlighting recent road improvement efforts. Sasser reported that resurfacing projects on Roberson Street, B Avenue, Nesmith Road and Wood Street have been completed and are now 100% finished.
The council also approved a proclamation recognizing January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month, aiming to increase public awareness and visibility of a crime whose victims are often unseen.
Additionally, council members approved the purchase of a Generac generator for town hall, with an estimated cost between $10,000 and $12,000, to ensure continued operations during power outages.
The meeting concluded with an announcement regarding an upcoming community event. Senior Citizens Day will be held Jan. 19, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Vinemont Community Center.
The next meeting of the Vinemont Town Council is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Vinemont Town Hall. The work session will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the council meeting at 6. Vinemont Town Hall is located at 36 Patton Drive.
