ATTALLA, Ala. – This month marks a milestone for Tigers For Tomorrow at Untamed Mountain as the preserve celebrates 20 years in Alabama. Since relocating from Florida in 2005, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit preserve has grown into one of the Southeast’s premier wildlife destinations — home to more than 175 animals, including over 90 predators such as big cats, wolves and bears.

Executive Director Susan Steffens expressed her gratitude to the community: “We are so thankful for our supporters, visitors, volunteers and local partners who have stood beside us over the past two decades. Everything you see here — the animals’ care, their habitats, the visitor experience — has been made possible through your continued support. What looks good on paper looks even better when you’re here.”

In celebration of this anniversary, Tigers For Tomorrow has announced its next major chapter: the Echoes of the Wild Preserve Expansion & Redevelopment Project, a multiyear initiative that will transform and expand the preserve for the future.

Project highlights

  • 10-acre expansion – The preserve will grow by 10 acres, providing more space for animals and new visitor experiences
  • Redesigned pathways and visitor routes – Improved trail systems will prepare for the addition of motorized guided tours, making the preserve more accessible for all guests
  • Larger, enriched habitats – Redesigned habitats will create even more natural, stimulating environments for the animals who call Untamed Mountain home

“Echoes of the Wild represents the next era for Tigers For Tomorrow,” Steffens added. “It’s about expanding the preserve while keeping our promise — to provide lifelong care for our animals and unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

As the preserve enters this exciting new phase, Tigers For Tomorrow is calling on local businesses, corporations and individuals to help make the vision a reality. Naming opportunities are available for new habitats, sections of the preserve and visitor amenities.

In addition, the preserve is launching its holiday sponsorship campaign. This seasonal giving program invites businesses, families and individuals to sponsor one of the preserve’s animals. Sponsorships help fund food, care and enrichment and include recognition signage on the animal’s habitat along with acknowledgment on the preserve’s website and social media. The goal is to have every animal sponsored by the New Year.

Tigers For Tomorrow will be open with extended hours during Thanksgiving week, welcoming families to celebrate the season of gratitude surrounded by nature and the animals they love.

Holiday hours: Open Wednesday, Nov. 26, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; CLOSED THANKSGIVING; open Friday-Sunday, Nov. 28-30, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
