VINEMONT, Ala. – Vinemont High School’s Cross Country team made school history at the 2025 AHSAA 3A State Championship Nov. 8, bringing home multiple All-State honors and record-breaking performances.

Senior Brady Johnson claimed the 3A Boys State Championship title, crossing the finish line in 15:51.42, a personal record and the fastest time ever run by a Vinemont athlete at the state meet.

Joining him on the All-State podium was Anakin Powell, a 10th grader, who placed 15th overall with a time of 18:02.13, marking his first All-State recognition.

The Vinemont 3A Boys team finished an impressive sixth place overall, the highest team finish in school history at the state level. This year’s squad also set a new school record with the fastest team average ever recorded — 18:56 across all five scoring runners.

This marks only the second time in school history that Vinemont has produced two All-State runners in the same season, as well as the second time having a boys’ state champion.

History was also made on the girls’ side, where eighth-grader Aurellia Powell placed 13th in the 3A Girls race, running 21:27.12. Her finish earned her All-State honors, making her the first female runner in Vinemont history to achieve that distinction.

The 2025 season will be remembered as a milestone year for Vinemont Cross Country — one marked by determination, record-setting performances and a program continuing to rise among Alabama’s best.
