CULLMAN, Ala. – James Spann will be the special guest at this month’s North Alabama Agriplex Heritage Homeschool event on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 9-11 a.m. at the OmniPlex.
Agriplex Youth Programs Manager Samantha Catland said the event is hosted by the Agriplex in partnership with the OmniPlex.
“This is a combined Elementary and Secondary Homeschool Program and we are doing an introduction to the science of weather,” Catland said. “We are excited to learn all about forecasting, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, snow and more from local legend James Spann.”
She said that after Spann’s presentation, families are invited to check out weather-related activity tables hosted by Cullman agencies and small businesses.
“He does programming for public schools and homeschool groups often, but it is the first time he’s done a class for the Agriplex,” Catland said. “He is a busy man with a full schedule. We have been patiently waiting for this class after setting this date with him last October. I am so excited that it has grown into an event involving the whole community. It’s not just about kids learning about weather types, but with the participation of United Way, EMA, local fire stations and more, we’ll be able to spread the word on being weather aware, how to prepare and what resources are available if you do experience a natural disaster.”
The OmniPlex is located at 1634 Field of Miracles Dr. SW in Cullman.
