3 graduate from Cullman County Drug Court
CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Drug Court recently had several participants of its program graduate.
Cullman County District Judge Chad Floyd said he is very proud of the accomplishments of each of the successful graduates, including Juan “Frank” Juarez, DD and JW.
“There’s something special about when a participant completes the entire program, beginning to end, without the first sanction,” Floyd said. “Frank has a great personality and brings a positive attitude with him wherever he goes.”
Floyd said the participants in the program have the following four things in common: They’re human and as such, they made a mistake; they were caught making said mistake; they admitted their guilt; and they took ownership of that mistake.
“As a Drug Court staff, I never want us to lose sight of the fact that we’re meeting individuals on their worst day,” Floyd said. “The great thing about this program is that it boasts a proven track record of helping folks achieve and maintain their sobriety. The phrase ‘there but for the grace of God, go I’ has been attributed to numerous individuals from the Evangelist John Bradford to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Regardless of its origin, the message has never been more clear. But for a handful of fateful decisions that I happened to make correctly, it could have been me on the other side of this bench. I never want us to forget that as we serve the participants of our program.”
