CULLMAN, Ala. – Vinemont swept Holly Pond, Good Hope and Fairview each won two of three games and Cold Springs earned a pair of victories over Addison in Saturday’s Cullman County Youth Football Association action.
Vinemont opened its home set with a 47-6 victory in the Fireplug game before edging Holly Pond 21-20 in overtime in the Wee-Wee matchup. Vinemont completed the sweep with a 38-0 Pee-Wee victory.
Good Hope recorded two shutouts against visiting Cullman, winning the Fireplug game 22-0 and the Wee-Wee contest 36-0. Cullman responded with a 26-0 victory in the Pee-Wee game.
Cold Springs defeated Addison 27-12 in the Fireplug matchup and 28-0 in the Wee-Wee game. Cold Springs does not field a Pee-Wee team, so no Pee-Wee game was played between the programs.
At Dafford Smith Stadium, Fairview defeated Hanceville 12-6 in the Fireplug game and 39-13 in the Pee-Wee matchup. Hanceville earned a 12-6 victory in the Wee-Wee contest.
West Point had bye week.
Cullman Football Academy also won three of four age-group games against Huntsville at Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville.
Huntsville won the 8U opener 20-14, but Cullman answered with a 14-0 shutout in the 9U game. Cullman’s 10U team edged Huntsville 18-13 before its 11U team closed the series with a 32-0 victory.
The Cullman Football Academy teams compete in North Alabama American Youth Football’s age-based divisions and are separate from the Cullman Bearcats’ Fireplug, Wee-Wee and Pee-Wee teams in the county league.
