FAIRVIEW, Ala. — Fairview held Guntersville scoreless through halftime Friday, but a third-quarter touchdown gave the Wildcats a 7-3 road win over the Aggies.
Fairview opened the scoring with a 19-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Aggies followed with a defensive stop, taking over at their own 27 after Guntersville turned the ball over on downs.
Fairview threatened again before the quarter ended. A run by Ayden Batz moved the Aggies to Guntersville’s 27, and a reception by Collin Nelson brought them to the Wildcats’ 5.
The possession ended with a missed field goal in the second quarter, leaving Fairview ahead 3-0. That score held through halftime.
Guntersville broke through in the third quarter on a 4-yard touchdown run. The extra point gave the Wildcats a 7-3 lead, and neither team scored again.
Fairview received a fourth-quarter opportunity after a Guntersville punt left the Aggies at their own 12. A late turnover on downs gave the Wildcats possession at Fairview’s 22 with approximately a minute remaining in the game.
The Aggies are scheduled to visit Sardis on Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m.
