CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County 4-H has opened enrollment for its 2026-2027 club year, with activities planned in agriculture, cooking, wildlife, outdoor recreation, leadership and other areas.
The new Alabama 4-H club year began Aug. 1 and will continue through July 31, 2027. Dairy Club began its schedule Tuesday, Aug. 4, while community clubs and the Youth Leadership Council are expected to begin meeting in September.
School-based clubs and 4-H activities associated with the Cullman County Fair will begin in October.
Alabama 4-H is open to youths ages 9-18. Cloverbud programming is available for children ages 5-8 and focuses on cooperative learning, personal development and age-appropriate activities rather than competition.
Cullman County’s schedule includes programs that will operate for several months as well as contests, camps and special events held at different points during the year.
Community Club meetings are planned for the third Tuesday night of each month from September through March. Separate community clubs connected with Classical Academy and BBC will also meet monthly during that period.
Essay contests will include topics connected with peanuts during October or November and Arbor Day during January or February.
The Cullman County Fair will run Oct. 15-24, with livestock and pet shows included among the county 4-H activities. The fair’s official calendar confirms those dates for its 2026 run.
Chicken Club will begin in January, with chicks expected to arrive in May.
Spring programming will include Wildlife Club meetings on Wednesday afternoons from March through May and Shotgun Club meetings on Wednesday afternoons from February through May.
Cooking Club will meet one Tuesday each month from January through March, with sessions scheduled from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
The Just Move Sports Club will meet one Monday morning each month from April through August. A dairy poster contest is planned for April or May, while the Cullman County 4-H Roundup is expected to take place in April 2027.
Summer activities will include the Sweet Potato Challenge from May through September, with registration expected to begin in May.
The annual summer camp at the Alabama 4-H Center is planned for the final week of June. Cullman County 4-H also plans June day camps involving solar energy, robotics and Cloverbud activities, although exact dates have not been announced.
Additional summer opportunities include Regional Congress at Gadsden State Community College in May and RiverKids kayaking programs on selected dates from June through August.
Alabama 4-H describes its programs as hands-on learning opportunities intended to develop confidence, independence, resilience, leadership and practical skills. The statewide program operates through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and is present in all 67 counties.
New and returning members must enroll through the 4HOnline system for the 2026-2027 club year.
New families must create an account, select Alabama and Alabama 4-H Youth Development, choose Cullman County and add each participating family member. Members must select at least one club and identify the projects in which they are participating or interested.
Returning families may sign into their existing accounts and select “Enroll Now” beside each member’s name. Enrollment must be reviewed and approved at the county level before a member can register for certain events and training programs.
